The inReach Mini 2 is Garmin's next iteration of the successful inReach Mini - an irrefutably valuable lifeline for when things don't go as planned exploring off the beaten path. It enables text messaging and SOS communication where cell service doesn't exist. It's small, ultra-portable and optimized to serve as a singular device specifically devoted to notifying help or loved ones in the event of an emergency. Within the moto-realm of off-the-grid use, there're other products with larger color screens that are better suited for on-the-bike navigation. The Mini is best viewed as an emergency communicator. If everything is not going your way, the Mini does have the versatility to sync via Bluetooth to a compatible smartphone as a means of viewing topographical maps, but its primary role is to aid others in coming to your rescue. 

Compared to the original inReach Mini, Garmin has made some key updates, including an extended battery life, USB-C interface, higher resolution screen, ability to store additional waypoints, courses and activities, and compatibility with the Garmin Explore App. 

On top of GPS, the inReach Mini 2 also utilizes GALILEO, QZSS and Beidou satellites for tracking.
